If you're looking for a proper full-size SUV, there's nothing quite like a new Yukon. This stunning vehicle combines some of the best features of capable SUVs with the latest in automotive luxury to create a one-of-a-kind experience. Learn all about the new 2023 GMC Yukon, and discover whether or not it's right for you.
Trim Levels
The new Yukon has five total trim levels, and they each have unique exterior features you'll want to keep in mind. At the base level, the SLE already comes equipped with quite a few alluring features including 18-inch alloy wheels, roof-mounted side rails, as well as LED headlights, taillights, and fog lights. Upgrade to the SLT, and you get 20-inch alloy wheels and a hands-free power-operated rear liftgate.
At the AT4 trim level, the Yukon becomes a bit more rugged with all-terrain tires and red tow hooks alongside a protective front skid plate. With the Denali, the Yukon is a bit more luxurious with sleek lines and chrome accents. The top trim is the Denali Ultimate, which lets you enjoy 22-inch wheels and a host of fun interior upgrades.
Engine
Under the hood of the Yukon, you'll find one of three engine options. The base engine already has plenty of power with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque coming from a 5.3-liter V-8. If that's not quite enough for you, you may prefer the more powerful 6.2-liter V-8 and its 420 horsepower with 460 pound-feet of torque. The final engine option is a diesel one that's a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six offering 277 horsepower with 460 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The Yukon has stunning performance no matter which version you opt for, but the AT4 is especially adept at off-roading thanks to its two-speed transfer case and available air suspension, which can alter the SUV's ground clearance as needed. The more powerful V-8 engine is a popular option too, thanks to its speedy acceleration that can get it from zero to 60 miles per hour in just six seconds. It's quite capable too, offering a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 pounds when properly equipped.
Interior
Plenty of space is available in the Yukon for passengers and cargo alike. It has room enough for nine people if you opt for the front bench seat, though typically it offers seating for eight while opting for second-row captain's chairs drops that capacity to seven. If you're more interested in cargo, the Yukon has a maximum capacity of 122.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. The interior tech is impressive too, coming standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
Safety Features
Given how often the Yukon is used as a family vehicle, it should be no surprise that it comes with some of the best available safety features. Automated emergency braking with forward collision warning is standard on all models. If you want the best of the best, you can opt for the available adaptive cruise control that comes with a hands-free semi-autonomous driving mode.
